Bio

John Lindsey was born in Fort Collins,  Colorado.  He grew up in the small city,  spending the majority of his life with the comforts of family and friends.  Originally planning to join the military,  Mr. Lindsey entered high school.  He joined choir,  since he had enjoyed music and singing as a part of his upbringing.  However,  throughout the course of these four years,  he developed a deeper love for music.  After much encouragement regarding his vocal ability,  he began studies with Todd Queen,  his current voice teacher,  in 2001.  After receiving the Compton Music Award from Fort Collins High School and a small scholarship,  Mr. Lindsey began to pursue his BM in Vocal Performance with a concentration in opera at Colorado State University.  Since then he has been met with numerous successes,  including performances of well known roles such as Fenton,  Sam,  Ferrando,  and Rodolfo,  as well as winning the "Singer of the Year" award at the annual "Singer of the Year" competition for the past two years in a row,  receiving honors from the Denver Lyric Opera Guild,  and placing in the top three in his division at regional NATS competitions for the past three years.  This past summer,  he took part in the Emerald City Opera Young Apprentice Program in Steamboat Springs,  Colorado,  where he covered the role of Alfredo in La Traviata.  Most recently,  Mr. Lindsey proceeded to the District Finals at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions,  where he received the Young Artist Encouragement Award.  In the summer of 2009,  he will participate in the Crested Butte Young Artist program in Crested Butte,  Colorado.
